This intensive three-day course with artist and designer Pharah Al-Ghalib offers a comprehensive introduction to wheel-thrown pottery, guiding participants through the full spectrum of the ceramic process. Day 1 Clay & Wheel Fundamentals: Focuses on understanding clay—its qualities, preparation, and potential. Participants will learn wedging techniques before moving to the wheel to practice centering, opening, and pulling walls, creating several forms to be set aside to dry to a leather-hard stage. Day 2 Refinement & Practice: Focuses on refining technique through trimming leather-hard pieces on the wheel, shaping and finishing forms while improving both skill and confidence. Participants will also continue throwing practice, reinforcing foundational techniques and experimenting with new forms. Day 3 Surface Design & Glaze: Explores surface design on unfired clay.
