Makers Matters Programme Open Call Programme Overview Makers Matters celebrates craft as a living language shaped by materials, techniques, tools, and rituals that transfer knowledge across generations. Craftmen, designers, artisans, artists, architects, researchers, and makers from across Saudi Arabia are invited to contribute to a multidisciplinary programme that explores the relationship between heritage, making, and innovation. Applicants may apply through one of three programme tracks and position their work within one of three anchors. Anchors Past | Explores inherited craftsmanship, regional making traditions, and the techniques, materials, and skills passed down through generations. Examples: natural pigments, palm weaving, pottery, stone carving, wood joinery, leather craftsmanship Present | Explores how makers respond to today’s challenges through experimentation, repair, reuse, digital fabrication, and new approaches to making.
